AtwoodFest turns 40 years old in 2022! The esteemed east side festival is celebrating by hosting an expanded musical lineup including 29 acts on 3 stages over the weekend of July 30-31 playing everything from bluegrass to blues to electronica, jazz and funky R & B.
AtwoodFest began in the summer of 1982 as Atwood Summerfest, an annual fundraising event for the Goodman Center (then the Atwood Community Center). The Goodman Center withdrew as the host of the event in early 2014 to focus on their mission as a community center, opening the door for the SASY Neighborhood Association to partner with the Barrymore Theatre and the WilMar Neighborhood Center to recreate the festival with a new name – AtwoodFest.
Celebrating 40 years as one of Madison’s longest running music festivals, AtwoodFest is proud to announce a new stage and music lineup for July 30-31, 2022. Live Music at AtwoodFest 2022 will feature something old, something new… something borrowed, and definitely some Blues. This year’s lineup boasts many new faces and sounds as well as fan favorites representing the musical traditions of AtwoodFest. The new Sugar Maple Stage presented by The Lauer Realty Group will be located in the United Way parking lot at 2070 Atwood and will feature teenage bands early in the day, and then switch over to acoustic Americana mid-afternoon. Music will start just after noon each day. On Saturday, bands from the Madison Music Foundry will perform. Winners of the statewide high-school garage band competition, Rockonsin, will perform Sunday. Roots oriented acoustic bands will take over the Sugar Maple Stage at 3:00 pm each day and perform until early evening. See below for the full lineup and set times. Remember this is a benefit event, so please patronize food and beer vendors rather than bringing your own. The streets are also jam-packed with revelers so please be very watchful if you choose to bring pets or small children.
