San Francisco-based animal welfare organization Direct Action Everywhere recently published an investigation of Ridglan Farms, a beagle breeding farm in western Dane County, Wisconsin. Ridglan Farms breeds beagles destined for experimentation at a number of research institutions, including the University of Wisconsin. Rigdlan is accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care, but Direct Action Everywhere claims their investigation includes evidence of unsanitary and inhumane treatment of the dogs.
Eva Hamer is an investigator with Direct Action Everywhere, and she joins Eight O’Clock Buzz host Brian Standing by phone.
Advocates like Hamer are hoping to secure protections for dogs and other animals with Julie’s Law, to put an end to research facilities like Ridglan Farms.
