The London Times calls the Boston Early Music Festival “the world’s leading festival of early music.” This year’s week-long festival showcased 2 operas, 18 concerts, an exhibition, symposia, master classes and some 65 fringe concerts! On last Sunday’s June 25 edition of Musica Antiqua Alan Muirhead, freshly returned from Boston, played musical selections by many of the groups featured at the festival along with interviews recorded on-the-scene with BEMF particpants Ellen Hargis, Grant Herreid and Charlie Weaver. You can stream that broadcast on-demand anywhere and anytime at wortfm.org.
Tune in again on Sunday, July 2 when John Barker will preview the Madison Early Music Festival, which starts on July 8. MEMF co-artistic directors Cheryl Bensman-Rowe and Paul Rowe will join John to talk about MEMF and play some of the pieces that will be performed there. All this on Musica Antiqua, which airs every Sunday from 8am to 11am.
