15 years ago Kodey Feiner, Tom Kazmerzak and Jim Kvalheim decided to throw a band together for a FFA talent show. From there, they would go on to play the FFA National Convention in Louisville. What started as a talent show band grew into the local bluegrass favorites, The Soggy Prairie Boys. Later, Jim’s younger brother Kristen and fiddle player Carl Rozas joined the band to form the current line up. They didn’t intend on being a band, but once they started they never looked back releasing two albums and placing 2nd in Madison Magazine for Best of Madison local folk/bluegrass band.
Every year they also host their very own event called Beer Jolais. This event is a celebration of the Soggy Prairie Boys, their music, and their families, and beer. “Not necessarily in that order” as they put it.
The Soggy Prairie Boys and many other fantastic local bands played on Sunday at the 20th Annual WORT Block Party. Look for more photos and recaps of the day on our website and social media pages.
