After a couple of days to shake off that Block Party buzz, your Saturday Night at Smokey’s Joint hosts, Mr. Dance and Mister “Smokey” G. wanted to thank everyone that made the event possible, and we’ll keep it brief. We know we would be nowhere without the listeners (and listener sponsors), vendors, the city of Madison and the entire WORT family, volunteers and staff alike. The block was filled with good times for all and a music filled experience to be remembered until…well, next year. We were honored to introduce the mighty Charles Walker Band to the stage for your funkin’ good time and they did not let us down. The horns, the moves and the professionalism brought from Milwaukee to Madison was a treat to share in. We were blessed by Mother Nature for a Sunday filled with warmth and sunshine, children provided bubbles to the grooves in the air and the aroma of good times was definitely overwhelming. We want to make sure to draw special attention to our music making family for the day (and beyond)…Along with the CWB, we enjoyed a musical hang with Black Marigold, Mal-O-Dua, Tony Castaneda’s Latin Jazz Ensemble, David Hecht and Primitive Culture and The Rousers. We would love to hear your thoughts on what worked for you as we always try to keep fun a success!
Funkily,
Dance/G
