The U.S. has reached another tipping point in the culture wars, with the number of book bans in libraries and classrooms doubling since last year. How can we explain this uptick in banned books around the country?
Today, Ali Muldrow talks all things book bans—including the role of religion, the underlying political strategy, anti-CRT legislation, and the attack on public education, and more—with Jeremy Stoddard.
Jeremy Stoddard is professor and faculty chair of the Secondary Education Program in the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His research examines the role of media in teaching and learning history and democratic citizenship, with a particular focus on engagement with difficult or marginalized histories and contemporary controversial issues.
