15-year-old Kamila Valieva became the center of controversy when the Olympics committee allowed her to continue competing in the games despite having a positive test result for a banned heart drug. Valieva’s case prompted a deeper investigation into the abuse of teen athletes on the Russian figure skating team. Moreover, her case raises the question of how do we change the culture of abuse behind training professional athletes.
