Just last month, Yumi Nu became the first-ever Asian-American model to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated. Not only that, but she is also a plus-size model. Her appearance shows us that we should continue to strive towards more body inclusivity as a society. However, not everyone was pleased with her cover photo.
This week, feature producer Teresa Yen talked with Dr. Kate Phelps, a lecturer at the Gender & Women’s Studies department at UW-Madison, about the importance of fat positivity and unlearning fat stigma.
