Walking the line between fiction and reality, cartoons have the power to convey seemingly complex messages through subtle, and often creative, ways. As a cartoonist, Rodney Lambright Jr. makes use of the surreal imagery to disarm readers with a friendly atmosphere on the surface, but then dives into psychological trauma and the unconscious mind through dialogue present in the panels of his comics.
Lambright is an Illustrator, Writer, Animator whose main focus is storytelling. He is the Madison Bubbler Artist in Residence for January and February and his workshops will explore cartoons as a means of storytelling. Kai Brito joins him in the studio to discuss his artistic process.
