The Norwegian folk song “Kom skal vi klippe sauen i dag” (Come, we shall clip the sheep today) is a classic tune that describes the process of going from sheep’s wool to all sorts of clothes. Join Nordic culture educator Kari Tauring for a deeper look at the process of wool production from the mythic, cosmological, and cultural practices. Learn the song and even do a little dance around clipping, carding, spinning, dyeing, knitting, and weaving that essential ingredient for survival in the Northlands – wool.

Kari Tauring is a folk musician, cultural educator, and spiritual leader living in Minneapolis. She is recognized for her interpretations of ancient Edda poetry, runes, and Norse cosmology and metaphysics. She has several recordings, a book and app for rune study, as well as a host of on-line courses available on her website. She also teaches regularly at Norway House in Minneapolis.
