Songwriting II–Virtual Workshop

Wed August 12 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

$20

[This workshop will be hosted over the videoconferencing platform Zoom. You do not need a Zoom account to register, and you can also listen in by phone. Once you purchase a ticket, Folklore Village will be in touch with all the information you need to get connected.]

In the second section of Songwriter’s Workshop, Davey Harrison and the songwriter’s circle will spend two hours examining more advanced concepts such as harmonic structures, varied song structures, and using model artists’ works as the basis for writing compositions. No previous experience as an instrumentalist or songwriter required; however, it is encouraged that participants of this workshop attend the first class. Students are welcome to bring their own songs to share and workshop with the song circle. Please bring an open heart and mind as we continue our exploration of the joy of storytelling through song. Tickets for this event are $20 each. Feel free to email daveyharrisonmusic@gmail.com with any questions, or email programs@folklorevillage.org if you have technical questions about getting connected with the workshop.

Originally from Gloucester, England, Davey Harrison found his passion for the mandolin and American Roots music while growing up in Wisconsin. His constant love for music led him to study Classical Vocal Performance at Lawrence University’s Conservatory of Music in Appleton, WI. Davey then attended the New England Conservatory in Boston, MA where he received a Master’s of Music in Contemporary Improvisation focusing on mandolin and vocal performance.

Davey now lives near Oconomowoc and performs frequently with his wife and musical partner Maire Clement in their duo the Boston Imposters. Their original music combines the influence of many folk traditions with their own personal stories and perspectives.

Davey teaches mandolin, guitar, claw-hammer banjo, voice, and songwriting.
