Summer Arts Camp: Fun with Food + Pottery

Mon July 8 - Fri July 12

Camps for 5-9 year olds!

These camps meets three hours a day, Monday – Friday. Classes will also be broken up with art games, a snack break, and some outside time. Families may send their child with a snack and a waterbottle.

Families may choose to enroll their child in our continuous care options to stay on site for some or all of the afternoon, including:

Supervised LUNCH break running 12-1pm ($75/week),
Afternoon OPEN ART studio running 1-4pm (free or sliding scale donations with advance registration)
AFTERCARE art studio running 4-5:30pm ($95/week)
Students should bring their own bag lunch if they plan to attend the supervised lunch break, although we will have free lunch options available to all students who need or want it thanks to a partnership with MMSD. Students attending camp on need-based scholarship who choose to stay on site for the afternoon open art studio may have the lunch supervision fee waived.

Join artist Brian Kluge for a week of artmaking with clay! Students will meet at Arts + Literature Laboratory but will take most classes across the street to Midwest Clay Project, where their working studio will allow students to create sculptures like a professional. Students will create a variety of clay plates, cups, and bowls inspired by the shapes, colors, and ingredients of favorite foods! Each day will focus on a new project with unique ways of forming and decorating clay. Pottery made during the week will be used to support a community meal prior to going home with each participant. *An additional $25 materials fee applies to this particular class due to the cost of materials required. Most projects will be available for pickup a few weeks after the end of class for proper drying and firing.*
