The Cactus Blossoms

Fri February 8 @ 7:30 pm

The blood harmony betweeen brothers Page Burkum and Jack Torrey is without question a hauntingly beautiful sound. With an early residency at the Minneapolis Turf Club, The Cactus Blossoms ran with old time country and vintage rock’n roll tunes interspersed with originals so good the crowd couldn’t tell classic from modern.

Of their 2016 debut You’re Dreaming Acoustic Guitar Magazine said, “On You’re DreamingThe Cactus Blossoms revitalize music from the dawn of rock and country for a contemporary audience, and celebrate an era before genre boundaries calcified, and when possibilities seemed endless.”

Those endless possibilites included an appearance performing their song “Mississippi” on the third episode of the 2017 revival of “Twin Peaks”, the cult classic horror series created by David Lynch. As fans of the show, The Cactus Blossoms jumped at the rare opportunity and were delighted to see their scene made the final cut while building a new fan base for their unique sound.

Page and Jack continue to exert boundless energy for their music as they embark to release Easy Way, a collection of ten original new songs on Reliable Records out of Chicago. With two tracks co-written with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, Easy Wayalso benefits from contributors Michael Lewis of Bon Iver, Andrew Bird on saxophone, and Joel Paterson of Devil in the Woodpile on pedal steel.

Native Harrow supports: After nearly two decades of rigorous training in ballet, theatre, and voice, Tuel needed to break out of the oppressive rules of academia and find her natural voice, write from her heart, and figure out what kind of performer she truly was rather than the one she was being molded into from the age of 3. The result – Native Harrow cuts out clear and vibrant narratives on fear, love, the open road, ill-fated relationships, and coping with the state of the world.
