April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Rainbow Project, a non-profit in Madison that provides treatment and therapy to families and children who have experienced trauma, is recognizing this national month with a Learning Series on the effects of child abuse and how to prevent it. Our month-long recognition begins with our annual Stakeholder Forum on Wednesday, April 7th. The Learning Series will follow each Wednesday afterwards. The first Wednesday (April 14th) will feature a presentation by Percy Brown, Jr. on addressing racial disparities and discrimination in education. The following Wednesday (April 21st) will feature Dr. Ryan Herringa’s presentation on intergenerational trauma, brain development and mental health in youth. The final Wednesday (April 28th) will feature Fabiola Hamdan and Celia Huerta (a Rainbow therapist). You can register for these events at therainbowproject.net/april. Please join us to bring attention to National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
