(WORT) — In January, there was an incident at a UW-Madison residence hall where a student taped photos of Adolf Hitler’s face and swastikas on the door of Jewish student’s dorm room.
The perpetrator was disciplined, residents of the Residence Hall were notified, and a voluntary meeting was held for residents. However, not many residents showed up to the meeting, and the University decided nothing further needed to be done.
A few weeks later, a resident posted a photo of the door to Facebook, and it spread quickly across campus. The next day, UW officials sent out a campus wide e-mail explaining that such acts would not be tolerated. Due to increased attention brought by social media, there was a town hall meeting called on Tuesday night.
