Armando Anthony Corea, better known as “Chick” Corea, was an American jazz composer, keyboardist, bandleader and percussionist. His compositions “Windows”, “Spain”, “Armando’s Rhumba” and “500 Miles High” are beloved as jazz, fusion and Latin jazz standards. Chick was born June 12, 1941 in Chelsea, Massachusetts and died February 9, 2021 in Tampa-St. Petersburg, Florida.
Many WORT hosts across the genres of jazz, world, Latin, rock and experimental programming mourned him and celebrated his music over the past two weeks.
