Jazz Jennings first became a transgender celebrity when she appeared in an interview on 20/20 with Barbara Walters at the age of seven. Since then, she has been the subject of a documentary series, become a YouTube star and now 18, recently completed her gender reassignment surgery. This Thursday, the Madison Metropolitan School District and the Madison Public Library team up for a community reading of Jennings’ autobiography, “I Am Jazz.” Joining us now in the studio is Jennifer Herdina, the “Welcoming Schools” lead for the Madison Metropolitan School District. Also joining us is Madison Public Library Teaching and Learning Librarian Rebecca Millerjohn.-
The “Be who you are! 4th Annual ‘Jazz & Friends’ Community Readings” take place Thursday, February 28th from 6:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. at the Central, Ashman, Meadowridge, Lakeview, Pinney, Hawthorne and Sequoya Libraries.
