WORT is mourning the loss of long-time volunteer Victoria Staughn, who passed away on November 1st. A passionate supporter of community radio who served on our Community Advisory Board since the mid 1990’s, Victoria was a dedicated advocate for social, economic and environmental justice as well as an active union member and neighborhood organizer.
Victoria taught Social Studies at LaFollette High School and developed the LaFollette High School Archives before retiring in 2008. She was instrumental in expanding the district’s curriculum for Women’s and African history. Victoria was a volunteer for WORT from its inception in 1975, and her spirit and wisdom will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to her favorite local organizations, WORT 89.9FM or Olbrich Gardens.
