Tonight, the Perpetual Notion Machine looks into the fascination with cephalopods with two of our intrepid reporters, Kase Wheatley and Leah Potter-Weight. Cephalopods are a large class of mollusks that include octopus, squids, and cuttlefish. Their guests include George Rothdrake from the Friends of the Geology Museum. Even though George has a background in geology, he provides some fascinating facts about the nature, ecology, and anatomy of various cephalopods. Did you know that cephalopods once resided in Wisconsin? The Geology Museum has fossil evidence of their existence. Also Clare Ursula joins the show. She is not a scientist, but she does provide some fascinating insights. And finally, several audio clips narrated by Isabella Rossellini from the online video series Green Porno describe the mating habits of several cephalopods.
