Roots musician Charlie Parr will be visiting WORT to do a live studio session this Friday at noon on his way to play The Stoughton Opera House later that night along with Willy Tea Taylor. Though described as a shy individual, his ambitious schedule of around 250 energetic performances a year has built him a frenzied following of fans from around the world.
Charlie Parr enjoys a simple life of driving cross-country and sharing his music. He often sleeps in his car and cooks his vegan lunch on his engine manifold. Most of his recordings reflect this mentality as well, throwing ideas of a typical studio out the window in favor of recording in places like warehouses, basements and garages. His work gains an almost historic feel from the vintage equipment he prefers to use, as he switches seamlessly between acoustic guitar, dobro and banjo. You can learn more about Charlie’s unique brand of music and his travels on his website.
