April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Join local experts Sharyl Kato (The Rainbow Project), Julie Ahnen (Dane County Dept. of Human Services) and Fay McClug (Center for Families) as they examine the issues regarding child abuse and neglect. The panel will also discuss support and prevention services and strategies. Sarah and Andrew Kerbel will join the program to tell their story and talk about their organization Seeds from Seeds.
The goal of the program is to raise awareness and inform people of services and organizations that can help with support and prevention. This show has personal meaning for Jason Hafeman, the moderator, whose nephew was a victim of abuse from his daycare provider when he was 7 months old. This changed everything for his sister and her husband (and it impacted the whole family). The couple has been brave enough to tell their story publicly in an effort to help other victims, and families of victims, of child abuse. They’ve created an organization in the Green Bay area called Seeds from Seeds to be a resource in northeastern Wisconsin. Jason wanted to organize this show as a way to help them on their mission and to shed light on the issue in the Madison area. And he has made them a part of the program as well.
