Julie Rehmeyer is a contributing editor at Discover magazine, and as a freelance journalist, has written for the New York Times, Science News, and Wired, among many others. She’s also the author of her memoir Through the Shadowlands: A Science Writer’s Odyssey into an Illness Science Doesn’t Understand, about her battle with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. So, Perpetual Notion Machine reporter Lincoln Tice talks with her. She describes Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and what was happening to her. But she also discusses how one doctor or specialist after another continued to misdiagnose her illness, and the realization that mold in her home may have caused it.
