The City of Madison begins its public hearings on its proposed 280 million dollar 2015 budget on November 11 at 5:30 p.m. Mayor Soglin’s budget proposal includes a 1.5 percent pay increase for city employees, WiFi on Madison Metro buses, and an ambitious capital program to address affordable housing as well as construction of a public market and several neighborhood centers. The Board of Estimates met last week, and proposed a number of changes to both the operating and capital budgets. On November 11, it’s the Common Council’s turn, and there are at least 35 proposed amendments to the mayor’s budget on the table. District 8 Alder, and announced Mayoral candidate, Scott Resnick is the author of at least three of those amendments, and he joined Brian Standing on Monday, November 10.
