We’re a community resource. You’re the community!
WORT has been a vector of communication between the individual and the community since its inception, so whatever you need to say, we have a tool or process to help you speak up. We have different tools for different entities, depending on whether you are an individual, a performer, a business or a fellow non-profit. Here are a few ideas for no-cost ways that WORT can help you get the word out about your organization and events.
The Access Hour
Mondays 7-8PM. Each Monday a different community group or individual hosts the show. Assistance is provided both with recording a promotional announcement to be aired the week prior to the show and with sound board engineering the night of the show. In order to keep the show accessible, any individual or group is limited to one show per year. The Access Hour is often booked several months in advance.
To sign up, fill out the application form.
Story/Guest Idea
If you have a story idea or would like to come on to one of our shows, please send a BRIEF pitch via e-mail to the News & Talk Director Chali Pittman at chali@wortfm.org or by calling the station at (608) 321-9586.
Volunteer at WORT
It’s ultimately thanks to our hundreds of amazing volunteers that WORT is the great place it is! You could be one of the amazing individuals who help support our station by giving your time. We have opportunities ranging from web to music, news to office support. All talents, interests and experience levels are welcome. Visit our Volunteering page to learn more and apply.
Insurgent Radio Kiosk
The Insurgent Radio Kiosk is a four minute segment aired four times a day: at 5:00, 6:30 and 9am and at 2pm. The kiosk consists of a two-minute commentary and a calendar of free and low-cost community events. You may submit your event or announcement for inclusion in the calendar of community events by submitting this form.
Members of the public can prepare and submit a commentary to highlight an issue of public concern. Since WORT is licensed as a non-commercial station, we cannot air commentaries that promote for-profit businesses or commentaries that sound commercial. Find more information at our Kiosk commentary application page.
