“Social change doesn’t always have to be complicated or expensive.” – Lisa Kivirist
Monday kicks off the first day of Women in Sustainable and Organic Agriculture Week. On A Public Affair, Patty Peltekos spoke with Soil Sisters, a group of women who are cultivating change in our food system: Lisa Kivirist of the Inn Serendipity near Monroe; Anna Landmark, co-owner and cheesemaker at Landmark Creamery; and Jen Riemer, who runs Riemer Family Farm, a diversified livestock farm in Brodhead.
The Celebration of Wisconsin Farms & Rural Life takes place August 4-6th, with five unique components involving more than twenty women-owned farms. Events include Taste of Place, featuring food from Cow & Quince; Green Acres Workshops, Farm-To-Table Dinner, a Tour of Farms, and fine dining with local participating restaurants.
