Wisconsin’s partisan primary takes place August 8th, 2022. Wisconsin is an open primary state, which means that voters do not have to declare their party affiliation ahead of time, and can vote in one of either the Republican, Democratic, Libertarian or Constitution Party primaries. The 2022 election marks the first to use new legislative maps approved by the Wisconsin Supreme Court after the decennial federal census. There are a number of hotly contested races, including selection of the Republican candidates for Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General, as well as Democratic candidates for U.S. Senator, Lieutenant Governor, and a number of Southern Wisconsin Assembly seats.
