For the last two decades, Sondy Pope has represented District 80 in the Wisconsin State Assembly. However, earlier this year, Pope announced her retirement and is leaving the seat for the first time in twenty years. There are five candidates running in Democratic primary and two running in the Republican primary.
Continuing our coverage of the 2022 primary election, Wednesday host Carousel Bayrd talks with two of the candidates vying for the District 80 seat, Chad Kemp and Doug Steinberg.
Chad Kemp is currently the president of the Verona City Council, where he has served as an alder since 2018. He is a lifelong resident of the Madison area and a two-time graduate of the University of Wisconsin. As an attorney, he practices civil rights and personal injury law with Gingras, Thomsen & Wachs.
Doug Steinberg is a quality control tech at Franklin Electric. Previously, he served as a parole agent with the Department of Corrections. Some of his top priorities include supporting the disabled, aging, and veteran populations.
