Former Yes frontman Jon Anderson teams with legendary violinist Jean-Luc Ponty in the AndersonPonty Band, who play the Barrymore on Saturday May 14. Anderson and Ponty talked about collaborating for nearly thirty years before teaming up in 2014. The duo assembled a band and recorded their album “Better Late Than Never” live at the Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, Colorado before hitting the road for a world tour. Their show features new music as well as reworkings of classic Yes songs and Ponty’s instrumentals with new lyrics by Anderson.
WORT’s D.J. el Serpentine (Sal Serio) chatted with Anderson in advance of the Barrymore show, covering many topics including the early years of Yes, the recent passing of Yes co-founder Chris Squire, collaborating with Jean-Luc Ponty, and the influence of prog rock on a younger generation.
