October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This month, Lilada Gee joins us every Wednesday as host to break this down, discuss, and raise awareness to help end domestic violence.
Today she is joined by Dr. Alice Belcher and a survivor of domestic violence sharing her story. Dr. Belcher is a long-time member of the movement to end violence. She is Commissioner for the Milwaukee Commission on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, and a member of the Milwaukee Domestic Violence Homicide Review Commission. She is the founder of the Christian Woman Perspective Ministries, Inc., a volunteer holistic faith-based community outreach program.
About the host: Lilada Gee is the founder of Lilada’s Livingroom, and organization that creates a safe place for female survivors of sexual abuse to step from behind the veil of shadows, secrets and shame; opening a healing pathway to renewal, recovery and restoration. Lilada’s Livingroom provides Afro-centric services to Black girl and women survivors and teen mothers, as well as providing culturally diverse services to women of color advocates and survivors.
