How much does it cost WORT to broadcast an hour? The transmitter rental, salaries, electricity, phone bill, replacing and updating parts, Democracy Now! subscription, heating and air-conditioning, building upkeep, water, supplies, etc.?
Take a moment to think of a number in your head.
It costs about eighty-four dollars an hour (probably much less than you thought). We are able to produce and transmit WORT programming for that bargain price for one reason: the hundreds of weekly volunteers and thousand annual volunteers who host, produce, engineer, and answer your calls (receptionists). And the thousand annual volunteers who staff our Board, help with events, audit pledge drive shows, write thank you letters to donors, stuff envelopes, work on our website, and much more.
But even eighty-four dollars an hour works out to $735,840 annually. Join the 3600 or so supporters who make this happen. We have no $25,000 donors, no checks from big corporations or foundations. You make WORT possible. Thank you!
2017 WORT Wish List
We want to reach more listeners and potential volunteers in 2018!
With a new tent and banners, we can increase the number of events we appear at, especially during the busy summer months.

Additional, new tent to use at events and festivals. $1000
This year we must establish our digital music library. Much of the new music we receive from music companies comes in digital format. Many of our hosts have large digital libraries they could share with the station if we had a working, searchable digital library. This will be a tremendous undertaking, but it must be done in order to stay current on music from all genres. We will be putting out the call for volunteers to assist us with this as soon as we have the equipment. Stay tuned!
