This week’s edition of Strictly Jazz Sounds celebrates Women’s History Month, spotlighting Asian women jazz artists including pianist and NEA Jazz Master Toshiko Akiyoshi, Linda May Han Oh, Miki Yamanaka, Yasuko Hayakawa and Junko Onishi. Also featured is drummer Rodrigo Villanueva-Conroy, a professor of Jazz Studies at Northern Illinois University who teaches jazz drumset and arranging and directs the NIU Jazz Ensemble. Rodrigo performs frequently with the Eddie Gomez Trio and the Anders Svanoe Trio and his own trio.
