This week on Earthlinks, host Deb Biechler talks to us about ticks. Joining her is Michael Hillstrom, who is from the DNR. Michael gives tips on preventing and dealing with ticks.
To start off Michael talks to us about methods to help reduce ticks with proper repellent, long sleeves, and clothes treated with insecticide. He recommends that after being out in nature it is best to clean up and check for ticks as disease can set it quickly. A yard can have ticks so he recommends that piles of brush or wood be removed and that shorter grass means that a yard is less hospitable for ticks.
Remember to check into the doctor if possible flu symptoms develop as it can be Lyme, but the possibility of a false failure in a test can happen so make sure to check and talk with your doctor.
