On June 11, in a snap vote, with no public discussion, the Madison School Board voted 4-3 to keep the Madison Police Department’s Educational Resource Officers in Madison schools. The vote, which extended the district’s contract with the City of Madison Police Department for another three years, came after years of intense community debate. Now, though, three former elected officials, former alder Brenda Konkel, former alder Andy Heidt and former County Supervisor Andy Olson, have called on a new vote, saying School Board President Gloria Reyes should have recused herself from the vote. Andy Heidt joined Monday Buzz host Brian Standing on July 1, 2019.
