School breaks can be stressful for kids and families who don’t have enough food.
Today, host Carousel Bayrd talks with two groups who are making sure Madison families are fed over the Thanksgiving holiday. First, Carousel is joined in studio with Lea Aschkenase, Mary Lou Taylor, and Jani Koester of Food for Thought Initiative. They are bringing food pantries to Madison public schools and making sure families have shelf-stable food on weekends and holidays.
In the second half, we learn about Goodman Community Center’s Thanksgiving Baskets from Jon Lica. This year, they collected and distributed over 4,300 turkeys for Madison families. We also discuss community need and volunteer opportunities.
