Once a month, First United Methodist Church and MACH1 hold a Foot Clinic for the homeless in Madison. Volunteers gather at 203 Wisconsin Avenue and wash the feet of needy members of our community.
The clinic started in the spring of 2016, and continues to draw volunteers from across Madison. Foot care is a commonly neglected and desperately necessary aspect of health, especially for the homeless population. Heavy amounts of walking on worn footwear puts them at a particular risk.
For folks who are interested in volunteering, you can head over to the MACH1 Health Facebook page or call First Methodist at 608-256-9061.
Producer Alejandro Alonso Galva spoke with event organizer Karen Andro about the clinic.
