Today in 1918: Nelson Mandela is born.
Mandela was one of the leaders in the successful fight against apartheid in South Africa, and became its first black president. In 1993, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
It’s This Weekend’s Action Calendar!
This weekend is the Tenderfoot Collective summer art show. Check out the work of eight local artists, with live music on Friday and Saturday night. This free event is at Art In, 1444 East Washington. Tonight, A Room of One’s Own Bookstore hosts Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus, better known as The Minimalists, to share their story of living with less and to celebrate their new book, “Everything That Remains.” Listen to them speak at this free event about their journey into the simple life, followed by a short reading from their new book and a brief Q&A session.
