Tomorrow, Monsenor Oscar Romero will be honored. The gathering will include a meditative reading of Archbishop Romero’s last sermon in 1980 when he was killed at the altar while presiding at Mass. Next Monday, Veterans for Peace host a Peace Rally Program in Madison. Noted speakers, music, high school scholarship awards, and poetry readings begin at 12:45pm at James Madison Park, 614 East Gorham Street. This is hosted by Veterans for Peace, Clarence Kailin Chapter 25. In addition to Monday’s program, Veterans for Peace will sponsor a “Memorial Mile” display of more than 6,675 simulated grave markers to acknowledge U.S. deaths in the ongoing Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
