WORT welcomed legendary musician George Winston back to Madison this past Friday evening, Oct. 2 at the Barrymore Theatre. George’s solo performance included lots of piano pieces, plus some harmonica and Hawaiian slack key guitar. Part of the proceeds from An Evening with George Winston were generously donated by George and ACG Productions to support WORT Radio.
Before the show, George spoke with his old friend, WORT volunteer Board member and world music host Paul Novak, about the evolution of his own music, their long and varied history including collaboration on a book/recording release, and his tradition of helping feed the homeless through donations to food pantries at his concerts.
