One teaspoon of salt in five gallons of water makes the water toxic to most of Wisconsin’s fish population. That’s one part in 3,840. Every year, we add more and more chloride into our surface water, gradually making out waters uninhabitable by aquatic life and putting human drinking water at risk. Even worse, once salt gets into the water, it’s almost impossible to get out. A new multi-agency partnership called Wisconsin Salt Wise seeks to reduce the salt we’re putting out there. Allison Madison Sustainability and Development Coordinator for Wisconsin Salt Wise joined Monday Buzz host Brian Standing.
