The Laurentian Great Lakes are home not only to the earth’s largest area of freshwater, and a diverse and complex ecosystem, but also to North America’s largest agglomeration of urban population. Small wonder, then that the lakes face a bewildering array of challenges: from phosphorus pollution, to invasive species, to habitat loss, to volatile water levels.
The Healing our Waters Great Lakes Coalition includes over 145 member organizations in the U.S and Canada, all dedicated to doing what we can to restore the Great Lakes ecosystem.
From 2003 to 2010, Todd Ambs served as the head of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Water Division, later serving as the President of the River Network. He’s now the Director of the Healing Our Waters Great Lakes Coalition. Todd Ambs joins Eight O’Clock Buzz host Brian Standing in the studio.
