For today’s show, Ali highlights the work of Sofia Snow, a community leader, writer, and performing artist who was recently named the director of the Office of Multicultural Arts Initiatives (OMAI) at UW–Madison. Sofia, herself a graduate of OMAI’s First Wave hip-hop scholarship program, discusses her path from the East Coast to Madison, her extensive work in arts administration and youth programming, her life as a poet and performer, and how the First Wave program allows students to flourish through rigorous multicultural artistic, academic, and activist experiences.
Sofia Snow is the director of the Office of Multicultural Arts Initiatives and the First Wave Hip Hop & Urban Arts Learning Community at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Previously, she served as director of Urban Word NYC.
