With the city’s recent announcement that overnight camping will no longer be allowed at Reindahl Park, we turn our attention to the housing crisis in Madison and the needs of people experiencing homelessness in our community.
For today’s show, Tuesday host Ali Muldrow leads a roundtable discussion on homelessness in Madison with Dominique Christian, housing program manager at The Road Home Dane County; Iisha Murphy, community peer health advocate at Madison Area Care for the Homeless (MACH) OneHealth; Kristi Goldade, hotels to housing program director at Focus Counseling; and Michael Moody, co-founder and CEO of Catalyst for Change.
Sharing personal experiences and insights from their work, the panel discusses a range of topics including youth homelessness, destigmatizing homelessness and undoing harmful stereotypes, the ongoing fight for resources, and moving from charity-driven solutions to creative and welcoming interventions that actually meet people’s needs.
