How is WORT dealing with COVID-19?
Updated May 28, 2020
The simple answer: We’ve hunkered down.
To limit the possible transmission of coronavirus, WORT is closed to volunteers and visitors. The staff and board is at work to develop a phased reopening plan that best protects everyone at WORT.
Our volunteers
While you may some rebroadcasts or alternate programming, shows still follow the programming schedule, and most of our programmers are producing fresh shows from home.
Music hosts stitch together fresh shows. Talk hosts are live, and hosting by phone or video conferencing software. And our reporters are hard at work remotely gathering news and information on the fallout and consequences of this virus. We still could not air vital news and community voices without our mighty volunteers!
To our listeners
We appreciate your patience with varying levels of audio fidelity! And since we’re airing some previously-aired programming, we appreciate your patience with fleeting references to inaccurate times, dates, and events.
We know our dedicated sponsors are being hit hard by closures. We encourage you to support your local restaurants by ordering take-out from those still open, participating in virtual events and exhibits, and by making a contribution to nonprofit arts organizations that have had their events cancelled.
We know many of you are facing economic ramifications due to unexpected child care costs, having hours cut or being out-of-work completely, etc. Paying your pledge is not a priority. But, details on paying your pledge drive or picking up premiums are available here.
For now, our doors are locked. But we look forward to a future when WORT is again humming along with activity. Our airwaves are still brimming with local voices, information, news and music. We hope this helps you stay connected to your community. Stay healthy!
