Johnny Damm has made a career of using classic pre-comics code comic book imagery to re-examine and re-imagine recent history and current events. His previous works “Failure Biographies” and “The Science of Things Familiar” showcase obscure and forgotten historic heroes and villains in the style of lurid 1950’s horror comic books. Damm’s latest work “I’m a Cop,” available directly from the author, uses the same style to illustrate actual quotes from police union leaders in Minneapolis, Chicago, Los Angeles and other cities in response to the Black Lives Matter movement and calls for police reform.
