New hosts Angie Trudell Vasquez and Devin Trudell embark on a poetry journey in their inaugural episode of Madison BookBeat.
In this episode, Devin and Angie speak with poet Margaret Rozga, about her recently-released collection of poetry entitled Holding My Selves Together: New and Selected Poems (Cornerstone Press, 2021). It’s a work that mixes old and new poetry from Rozga, who explores everything from fair housing marches in Milwaukee to Alice in Wonderland to the pandemic.
Margaret Rozga is a former Wisconsin Poet Laureate and the author of numerous works of poetry. She is an emeritus professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha, where she continues to teach poetry workshops. She was a participant in Milwaukee’s marches for fair housing and later married civil rights leader, Father James Groppi.
