This week, Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg will testify before three U.S. Congressional Committees about the company’s data leak to political consultant Cambridge Analytica, involving personal data from as many as 87,000,000 Facebook users. Cambridge Analytica allegedly used the data to “micro-target” pro-Trump ads to swing voters. A new study suggests that the Cambridge Analytica leak may only be the tip of the iceberg. Young Mae Kim is a professor of journalism with the University of Wisconsin and is currently the scholar in residence at the Campaign Legal Center in Washington, DC. Her team at the Project Data have just released an in-depth study of online issue ads during the 2016 election. Professor Kim joins Eight O’ Clock Buzz host Brian Standing by phone.
