Two weeks ago, Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway gave the city’s Board of Police and Fire Commissioners ninety days to select a new Chief of Police. But according to members of the board, that timeline isn’t feasible.
A draft timeline of the selection process indicates the city won’t have a new police chief until December at the earliest. That means acting Chief of Police Vic Wahl will hold the position until that point.
Earlier today, WORT producer Jonah Chester spoke with Wahl about the selection process and how recent protests against police brutality have affected the search.
