The newest Democrat to put his hat in the ring for the Wisconsin governor’s race is Mike McCabe, the founder and head of the non-profit advocacy group Blue Jean Nation. Prior to his work with Blue Jean Nation, McCabe spent 15 years running the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, a group that tracks money in state politics. In 2015, he founded Blue Jean Nation to help working people challenge the political establishment.
McCabe joins a growing list of names in the state’s Democratic gubernatorial primary, including Milwaukee businessman Andy Gronik, Eau Claire state representative Dana Wachs, and state Department of Public Instruction superintendent Tony Evers.
On Tuesday, McCabe launched his campaign from his family farm in Curtiss, Wisconsin, and WORT producer Nina Kravinsky caught up with him that afternoon.
