Dozens of Wisconsin hemp farmers got the bad news recently that their crop is over the legal limit for THC — the compound in marijuana that gets you high. These farmers have been ordered to destroy crop within 10 days.
Dylan Brogan, staff writer for Isthmus, spoke to 25 hemp growers this past week, including some who have been ordered to destroy a season’s worth of work.
Farmers told Brogan that the state department in charge of testing hemp was overwhelmed during the brief window when state inspectors collected and tested over 2,000 hemp samples. Some growers complain that the agency took too long to come out to the field and to provide testing results. Others dispute the validity of the state’s test itself.
Brogan joined Interim News Director Chali Pittman in the WORT studios to talk about his latest.
