In March of this year, Isthmus, Madison’s alt-weekly magazine that’s been in print since 1976, announced it was going dark. While the publication has continued publishing stories online, Isthmus hasn’t issued a print edition since the beginning of the pandemic.
Earlier today, the publication’s editorial team announced that the paper will be returning — as a non-profit news organization.
This week on Isthmus on WORT, Producer Jonah Chester spoke with Isthmus Editor Judith Davidoff on what the decision means for the future of the paper — and how the pandemic has impacted independent news organizations throughout the country.
